127 UUM ATHLETES SEND OFF FOR THE 5TH EDITION OF SUKIPT

UUM ONLINE: A total of 127 athletes representing Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) departed for Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) Tanjung Malim, Perak to participate in the 5th Edition of the 2022 Higher Education Institution Games (SUKIPT) which will start tomorrow.

At this participation, the UUM contingent will participate in 10 sports events out of 21 contested events involving more than 67 Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) from all over the country.

The sports that UUM athletes participate in are field bowling, badminton, women's softball, men's futsal, athletic martial arts, petanque, golf, karatedo, archery and taekwondo.

The Flag Handover Ceremony of the UUM Contingent to SUKIPT 2022 was completed by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student and Alumni Affairs), Prof. Dr. Ahmad Martadha Mohamed as Head of Contingent at Dewan Budi Siswa, Cultural and Art Center, recently.

Ahmad Martadha who represented the Vice-Chancellor, reminded the athletes to play as well as possible to make the name of the university proud.

"Fight with full sportsmanship in carrying the name of UUM in SUKIPT later. Hopefully, many successes will be obtained throughout the sports tournament later," he said.

In this edition of SUKIPT which will end on the 21st of August, the UUM Contingent is aiming for two gold medals for golf and field bowling after taking into past achievement records, including the excellent achievements of athletes in several series of tournaments they participated in before.
