UUM ONLINE: Kuala Lumpur - Finexus Sdn. Bhd., a leading technology and financial services company that connects and provides services to users, businesses, banks, and central banks, will establish a technology and information communication technology (ICT) incubator at Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM).

The purpose of establishing the ICT incubator is to provide UUM students with training in adapting to the latest technologies used in the business and banking sectors.

Finexus will also sponsor student projects focused on ICT and the Internet of Things (IoT), in addition to industrial interview training programmes, community projects such as FoodBank, and collaborative development of industry research studies.

This collaboration is outlined in the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between UUM and Finexus Sdn. Bhd.

On behalf of UUM, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Mohd Foad Sakdan, signed the MoU, while Finexus was represented by its Director, Mr. Lee Keng San.

Prof. Dr. Mohd Foad said that there are various areas and opportunities for collaboration that will be implemented in the coming year, including the UUM-Finexus Incubator Project and sponsorship by Finexus for high-tech student technology projects.

The Vice-Chancellor also urged all Schools and centres of authority to strengthen the relationship between the university and industry.

He emphasised the need for Schools and centres of authority to establish stronger connections with the industry. This is crucial in order to improve the employability of graduates and promote collaboration in areas such as research, application development, technology transfer, and more.

Porf. Dr. Mohd Foad also had the opportunity to meet with ten UUM alumni working at Finexus Sdn. Bhd.

Present at the event were UUM Deputy Vice-Chancellor CAS, Prof. Dr. Osman Ghazali, and staff from the School of Computing, as well as representatives from Finexus Sdn. Bhd.

Prior to this, the UUM delegation, led by the Vice-Chancellor, visited Finexus. During their visit, they had a meeting with the staff members, many of whom are UUM alumni.
