NEVER LOSE YOUR FIGHTING SPIRIT TO DEVELOP UUM

sukan rkayatUUM ONLINE: 38 years is not a short time for Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) to develop and make strides.

However, as a denizen of the university, there is a need to strive to ensure that Sintok Valley continues to rise in order to develop young people who will become future leaders, national fighters, and destiny defenders.

"Today, UUM has become the second-best university in the country.

"UUM’s success is the effort of all of us, whether we feel that we have given the best, average, or just at an ordinary level, but our efforts have elevated UUM to the level it is today," said the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Haim Hilman Abdullah at the Staff Monthly Assembly and ‘Sukan Rakyat' (Traditional Games) held at the UUM Stadium, yesterday.

Haim Hilman expressed hope that all university denizens stand up and continue the struggle to create a more glorious history so that by 2024, UUM can be among the top 300 in the world.

In 2030, UUM aims to be in the world's top 200, and when it turns 50, UUM will be one of the world's top 100 universities, so strive UUM!

"Let's never lose our fighting spirit, fade, or doubt our ability because we have come this far. How can we doubt ourselves when others do?

"We must cooperate with one another in order to realise the vision, mission, and motto of UUM. Next year, we will come with complete self-assurance to further elevate the reputation of UUM. Let's work together to ensure that our level of honesty and self-control is at its highest, that we continue to improve as a team, and that we continue to uphold the reputation of UUM," he said.

The staff monthly assembly for the year 2022 drew to a close with staff playing the many traditional games, namely tug-of-war, ‘musang berjanggut’, coconut bowling, ‘tarik upih pinang’, ping pong ball in spoon race, ‘rantaian kasih’, finding sweets in the flour, slow bike, and guessing the weight of the book.

A lucky draw was also held, and the main prize was a 50-inch television. Other prizes included a refrigerator, a washing machine, a bicycle, a rice cooker, an electric oven, and more.

In addition, the winners of the UUM Step Challenge, the 44th Universiti Malaysia (SUKUM) Staff Games, and the UUM Staff Games were also presented with their prizes.

According to Haim Hilman, the staff monthly assembly that will take place the following year will be interspersed with a variety of activities, particularly traditional games, which are seen as having the ability to make staff happy. In addition, there will be opportunities to strengthen relationships and receive attractive prizes.
