UUM ONLINE: Six pairs of exceptional twins made their first-choice selection to further their studies at Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) for the 2023/2024 academic session.

The twins aged 19 from Alor Setar; Ms. Nurin Najla Izhan and Ms. Nurin Najma Izhan, both with an impressive cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 4.0 from Kedah Matriculation College, have opted for the Bachelor of Accounting programme at the Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz School of Accountancy.

"We aspire to pursue our studies at UUM because we have had a deep interest in the field of accounting since our school days. The excitement of receiving acceptance into UUM is overwhelming, especially considering the fierce competition for admission into this programme.

“Accounting was our first choice when filling out our UPUOnline application, and we are grateful for the opportunity to follow our dreams at the university, considering the proximity to our home," shared Ms. Nurin Najla and Ms. Nurin Najma.

Another pair, Ms. Nur Alina Khirruddin and Ms. Nur Aliza Khirruddin, have also made UUM their first choice, enrolling in the Bachelor of Logistics programme. This set of twins, who previously studied at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Guar Cempedak in Yan, could not have anticipated that their first choice to study at UUM would become a reality.

Graduates from Syed Sirajudin Polytechnic, Ms. Ainun Sakinah Mohd Khairil and Ms. Ainun Shakirah Mohd Khairil aged 21 have chosen to further their studies in the Bachelor of Event Management programme.

Another set of non-identical twins, Ms. Azfar Haruya Amir Syahrul and Ms. Malikah Asna Amir Syahrul, aged 19, who attended Gopeng Matriculation College, Perak, have chosen accounting for their tenure of study at UUM.

Ms. Nureen Farahanie Mohd Nizam and Ms. Nureen Farahanis, aged 21, from Rawang, Selangor, have both opted for the Bachelor of Administration programme.

Ms. Siti Rohayu Ma’song and Ms. Siti Rohana Ma’song, aged 20, from Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Pasir Mas, Kelantan, have decided to pursue the field of counselling.

All the twin pairs, along with seven Orang Asli students, add vibrancy to the incoming class of 3,879 students at UUM.

In addition, Ms. Oh Qian Qian, a 20-year-old student with disabilities, expressed confidence in her decision to study at UUM.

"I seek information about the availability of facilities for students with disabilities (OKU) at UUM through the internet, in addition to my assurance in the university's provision of amenities."

"My visual impairment is not a hindrance to pursuing my dreams. I will make use of the opportunities and facilities available for learning, including sitting in the front row and frequently seeking help from my classmates," she stated.
