UUM ONLINE: The Malaysian Islamic Economic Development Foundation (YaPEIM) recently distributed a total of 250 kilogrammes (kg) of fresh meat to B40 communities in the Kubang Pasu area, including employees of the subsidiary companies of Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM).

A total of 250 recipients were each given 1 kg of fresh meat, resulting in a total allocation of RM10,000 based on current meat prices.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Mohd Foad Sakdan, expressed his utmost appreciation and gratitude to YaPEIM for this contribution, which is helping those who have not yet received their salaries, enabling them to purchase essential goods.

“I would like to call upon other colleagues to join in YaPEIM’s charitable efforts by making monthly salary deductions. The foundation will channel these donations to support the target groups in need,” he said.

The Foodbank 5.0 distribution received cooperation from the School of Economics, Finance, and Banking (SEFB).

Present at the event were the Northern Region Manager of YaPEIM, Mr. Fauzi Adnan; Deputy Dean (Research and Innovation) of SEFB, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rasidah Mohd Rashid; and Chairperson of the Networking and Community Service Committee of SEFB, Mr. Khairul Anuar Adnan.

Meanwhile, Mr. Fauzi mentioned that the collaborative relationship between YaPEIM and UUM has been long-standing. This marks the fifth edition of the Foodbank programme.

“Besides providing assistance in the form of kitchen staples and fresh meat to the local B40 community, YaPEIM also donates food to selected students.

“The contributions received by YaPEIM are the result of donations from the general public, which are subsequently utilised to benefit the community in need,” he said.

In addition to UUM, YaPEIM also distributed similar aid to Universiti Teknologi MARA, Perlis branch and Institut Kemahiran MARA Alor Setar.

A recipient, 57-year-old Mr. Ahmad Suhaimi Ali, expressed his gratitude to UUM and YaPEIM for the donation of fresh meat.

He stated that this contribution would help alleviate the burden of purchasing fresh groceries for his family.
